| Summary, etc. | In 1747, a craftsman from Reims made a pilgrimage to Rome. His account describes the 1630 km return journey and the 35km daily walk. GillesCaillotinshowsusthecrowdsofpilgrims, thewelcomethey received in the hospices that housed them, their visits to the churches along the way (Siena, Florence, Milan). He recounts his physical and moral trials: cold, storms, heatwaves, injuries, bad encounters, but also friendly exchanges in the squares, in the inns, or with his short-lived fellow pilgrims. He admires the beauty of the sanctuaries and liturgies that make this journey a spiritual experience. |

Il relate ses épreuves physiques et morales : froid, orages, canicules, blessures, mauvais rencontre mais aussi échanges amicaux sur les places, dans les auberges, ou avec ses éphémères compagnons de route. Il admire la beauté des sanctuaires et des liturgies qui font de ce voyage une expérience spirituelle. |
