| Summary, etc. | The concept of the Anthropocene emerged in the early 2000s to designate a new geological epoch dominated by human activities. Since then, it has been the subject of interdisciplinary debate between the natural and social sciences. However, on March 20, 2024, geological institutions rejected the proposal to officially recognize the Anthropocene. How can this rejection be explained? What can we make of this concept from now on? And in what way does this situation reflect a form of incommunication between disciplines? The main proposal put forward here is that, despite the rejection of the geological sciences, we should do more to communicate knowledge about the Anthropocene, so that we can continue to think about the key scientific, technological and societal issues of the 21st century. |

| Summary, etc. | Le concept d’Anthropocène a émergé au début des années 2000, pour désigner une nouvelle époque géologique qui serait dominée par les activités humaines. Depuis, il n’a cessé de faire l’objet de débats interdisciplinaires entre les sciences naturelles et sociales. Cependant, le 20 mars 2024, les institutions géologiques ont rejeté la proposition de reconnaissance officielle de l’Anthropocène. Comment expliquer ce refus ? Que faire, désormais, de ce concept ? Et en quoi cette situation relève-t-elle d’une forme d’incommunication des disciplines entre elles ? La proposition principale défendue ici invite à davantage faire communiquer les savoirs autour de l’Anthropocène, en dépit du rejet des sciences géologiques, afin de continuer à penser les enjeux scientifiques, technologiques, et sociétaux essentiels du XXIe siècle. |
