| Summary, etc. | Among the coins of the medal collection of the Bibliothèque Municipale de Besançon, there is a silver coin depicting Herô and Leander, whose legend takes place between Sestos and Abydos, on the two opposite sides of the Hellespont. Taking into account the success of the legend in literature and art in the Ancient times leads to examine the question or the coin’s provenance. It then appears that the coin is a modern artifact, and could have belonged to the Pierre-Adrien Pâris collection. |
