520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. The loss of a baby during the perinatal period generates deep suffering for the parents but also for the siblings, especially since they are confronted at the same time with their parents’ distress and its repercussions on family relationships. This article focuses on families affected by perinatal loss, and particularly on the experiences of siblings, which have been little studied and deserve more attention. Its purpose is to explore the steps that allow bereaved parents to best support their older children. Drawing on the existing literature, the article addresses the impact of perinatal death on siblings and explores the characteristics of their own processes of mourning. It identifies certain protective factors that allow parents to prevent their child from suffering as they mourn. Finally, it highlights the usefulness of specialized children’s books for regaining a parent-child containing function and enabling parents to support their child’s grieving process.
