| Summary, etc. | Aucune logistique militaire, aussi sophistiquée soit-elle, ne peut satisfaire en tout lieu et en tout temps les besoins du corps combattant. Aujourd’hui encore, de petites unités en position avancée peuvent se trouver dans un grand dénuement. Là où de petits chefs ont de l’expérience, on sait qu’il faut savoir « faire avec ». La « démerde » ! Comme la figure imposée d’une petite économie combattante qui, même dans la rareté, parvient à procurer au soldat un relatif confort et, surtout, du réconfort. Cette capacité de débrouille du corps combattant n’a pas qu’une fonction utilitaire. Elle le solidarise parce que, d’une manière ou d’une autre, chacun participe à l’ouvrage. Elle est source de fierté collective et de mobilisation. |

| Summary, etc. | No military logistics organization, no matter how sophisticated, can satisfy the combatant’s body’s every need everywhere and at any time. Even today, small units in advanced positions may find themselves truly devoid of everything. This is where NCOs have experience, know that they have to know how to “make do”. “Sort it”! A forced need where a small combatant economy is able, despite scarcity, to bring soldiers relative comfort and, especially, to comfort them. This ability of the military corps to make do is not just a utility function. It is one that binds together for, in one way or another, everyone plays a part. This is a source of collective pride and mobilization. |
