| Summary, etc. | Pierre Schoendoerffer s’est engagé pour partir en Indochine. La revue Inflexions a décidé de lui rendre visite pour lui demander de lui expliquer comment on peut s’en aller en guerre. De cette expérience ont surgi alors beaucoup de souvenirs. Le verbe partir s’est conjugué avec découvrir, puis avec repartir et pèleriner. Sont venus ensuite oser, se souvenir, tourner (forcément), aider, montrer l’exemple, s’enrichir, fuir, revenir, transmettre, mourir et peut-être et surtout espérer. En une heure Inflexions a parcouru une vie avec beaucoup d’émotions. L’auteur cinéaste s’est confié chaleureusement, avec bonté et confiance. Il a fait part de projets. Il a abordé la mort, sa mort, celle qui met fin à tout départ. « Partir » est ainsi devenu comme un joyau aux mille facettes au cœur duquel brille « une petite chandelle émerveillée de la vie ». « Partir » est devenu un hommage à ceux qui ont aidé le petit matelot à devenir un cinéaste, établi mais voyageur. |

| Summary, etc. | Pierre Schoendoerffer enlisted so that he could leave for Indochina. Inflexions magazine decided to visit him and ask him to explain how one could leave for war. That experience brought forth a wealth of memories. “Leaving” became synonymous with discovering and then with setting off again and making pilgrimages. Then came daring, remembering, turning back (inevitably), assisting, setting an example, becoming richer, fleeing, returning, communicating, dying and, perhaps most important of all, hoping. In just one hour, Inflexions traversed a life with a panoply of emotions. The author and film-maker devoted himself to us, exuding warmth, generosity and trust. He spoke about plans. He dealt with death, including his own death, the one that will put an end to his departures. “Leaving” thus became a multi-faceted jewel with, at its heart, “a little candle marvelling at life”. “Leaving” became a way of paying tribute to those who had helped the little sailor become a film-maker, continuing to travel even when established. |
