| Summary, etc. | RésuméLes services publics marchands sont aujourd’hui soumis aux impératifs de la compétitivité tout en subissant encore l’influence de leur cadre institutionnel. Ces évolutions conduisent ces activités à revoir leurs stratégies d’efficience. La problématique de l’innovation y est complexe, ajoutant des considérations civiques et sociales aux contraintes économiques traditionnelles. Le contexte de concurrence amène ces activités à réfléchir aux moyens d’affiner leur offre pour répondre aux nouvelles attentes des clients tout en délivrant leurs missions de service public de manière rentable. Cet article propose une analyse des innovations mises en œuvre par ces organismes afin de maintenir les missions de service public dans cet environnement évolutif. Il établit le rôle important et créatif de ces activités dans le maintien de la cohésion sociale. JEL L87, O14, O33, L33. |

| Summary, etc. | For-profit public services have to cope with the development of competition whereas they are still subjected to their institutional framework. These evolutions drive these activities to revise their efficiency strategies. The innovation problematic is complex. It adds civic and social matters in the usual economic constraints.This context leads these activities to think about different ways to refine their services to respond to new customers’ needs and at the same time delivered profitable public missions. This paper deals with for-profit public services innovations in order to maintain public missions in a changing environment.
