Summary, etc. |

Summary, etc. | Self-awareness impairments in patients suffering from schizophreniaDifficulties to distinguish oneself from others constitute a central disorder in schizophrenia and various experiments in cognitive neurosciences have attempted to create some causal models for that dysfunction. After a brief historical reminder of these models and their hierarchical organization in the field of schizophrenia, we propose the hypothesis of a self-other distinction impairment at a preconscious level of functioning based on clinical, behavioural and neuroimaging data. This impairment would be independent from feelings of body-ownership or hypo-familiarity as well as from mirror-neuron network dysfunctions. This disturbance could take place at a lower level of cognitive complexity than that is classically tested by the procedures of attribution judgments, which involve metarepresentational capacities for the participants. |

Summary, etc. |
