Sommée de poursuivre l’efficience, sollicitée dans le champ sécuritaire, constatant à la fois l’augmentation de sa patientèle et la fonte de ses moyens, elle vit son avenir comme une menace. Pour tenter de l’éclairer, les auteurs proposent de s’affranchir un instant de ces contraintes pour redéfinir les missions de la psychiatrie, discipline médicale, en partant des besoins globaux des patients et de l’articulation des acteurs sociaux que leur satisfaction ordonnée requiert. Ils militent pour le développement des soins de réhabilitation, la mise en place de dispositifs d’évaluation du handicap psychique, et la constitution de réseaux de santé mentale. |

| Summary, etc. | The case for redefining the mission of psychiatry based on patient’s global needsThe aim of this article was to redefine the mission of psychiatry based on patient’s global needs. French psychiatry is at the crossroads. Urged to pursue efficacy demanded in the field of security, noting not only an increase in the number of patients consulting but also a decrease in the capacity to deal with this problem, psychiatry sees its future as a threat. In order to clarify this situation the authors propose to avoid these restrictions in order to redefine the missions of psychiatry, medical specialty, based on the global requirements of patients and the relationship required in dealing with social players. They advocate the development of rehabilitation care, the establishment of evaluation methods for the psychiatrically disabled as well as the creation of a mental health network. |

| Summary, etc. | Por una redefinición de las misiones de la psiquiatría partiendo de las necesidades globales de los pacientesLa psiquiatría francesa está en una encrucijada. Emplazada a proseguir con la eficiencia, requerida en el ámbito securitario, al constatar a la vez el crecimiento de su « pacientela » y la merma de sus medios, vive su futuro como una amenaza. Con el fin de aclararla, los autores proponen pasar un momento por alto estas imposiciones para redifinir las misiones de la psiquiatría, disciplina médica, partiendo de las necesidades globales de los pacientes y de la articulación de los agentes sociales que exige su satisfacción. Abogan por el desarrollo de los cuidados de rehabilitación, la puesta en marcha de dispositivos de evaluación de la discapacidad psíquica, y la constitución de redes de salud mental. |
