| Summary, etc. | Implantée le long des routes principales, la gendarmerie a naturellement été chargée de les contrôler lors des insurrections. Pour quadriller ces zone troublées, les brigades ont souvent été utiles sans toujours être suffisamment efficaces. Les gendarmes ont surtout fait preuve de qualité d’adaptation en intégrant des forces mobiles pour intervenir en profondeur au-delà des routes. Mi-policiers, mi-soldats, ils ont été engagés sur tout le spectre du continuum de sécurité pour protéger cet espace familier mais vulnérable. Les pertes enregistrées malgré les progrès technologiques témoignent de la difficulté de garder la maîtrise des axes routiers lors des insurrections. |

| Summary, etc. | Posted along major highways, the Gendarmerie Nationale was naturally in charge of controlling these routes during uprisings. The brigades were often useful in patrolling these troubled zones, but not always effective enough. More than anything, the Gendarmerie demonstrated their adaptability by integrating mobile forces to operate in depth beyond the roads. Half-police, half-military, they have been engaged in the entire range of security missions to protect these familiar, but vulnerable areas. Despite technological advances, the casualties encountered are a testament to the difficulty of maintaining control of routes during times of uprising. |
