| Summary, etc. | Les traditions croyantes invitent à s’élever pour rencontrer ce qui est « au-dessus » de l’homme. S’élever par la prière pourtant, ce n’est pas quitter le réalisme de la condition humaine et de la fragilité de nos personnes où se jouent nos vies. C’est plutôt laisser descendre le souffle du Très Haut dans le concret de nos existences avec leur part de souffrance. Par le ciment de fraternité qu’elle crée, la prière permet de s’élever ensemble, de traverser ensemble ce qui semblait inassumable à vue humaine, l’humiliation et peut-être même la mort. |

| Summary, etc. | Religious traditions encourage us to elevate ourselves and access that which is ‘higher’ than man. Elevating oneself through prayer, however, does not mean putting aside the human condition and the state of personal fragility in which our existence plays out. Prayer is rather like letting the breath of the Most High descend into our lives, into their concrete nature and into the share of suffering that punctuates them. Through the concrete fraternity it creates, prayer allows us to rise as one, to go through unimaginable challenges all together – including humiliation and perhaps even death. |
