| Summary, etc. | Nous rapportons le cas d’un patient de 62 ans, qui a été admis aux urgences à la suite de la présence d’une masse axillaire gauche géante, d’évolution progressive. L’interrogatoire révélait la notion d’un ancien traumatisme qui avait occasionné une amputation du cinquième doigt gauche où siégeait une petite lésion pigmentée de nature inconnue. Le diagnostic d’un mélanome malin géant a été évoqué au vu du passé clinique du patient, de la nature de la masse axillaire et des résultats du bilan radiologique. Une biopsie exérèse complète de la masse avait été réalisée, dont les résultats de l’étude histologique avaient confirmé le diagnostic. Ce cas clinique illustre non seulement le caractère agressif, métastatique du mélanome malin dont le primitif peut passer inaperçu, mais aussi le caractère géant de la masse occupant tout le creux axillaire gauche, nécessitant une chirurgie agressive. |

| Summary, etc. | We report a case of a 62-year-old patient admitted to the emergency department for a giant axillary mass with a progressive course. The patient reported an amputation of the fifth finger after a traumatic injury. He also reported the presence of a pigmented lesion of unknown nature on the same finger. A diagnosis of giant melanoma was suspected given the patient history and the clinical and radiological aspects of the tumour. Complete excision of the lesion was performed and the histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of malignant melanoma. This clinical case illustrates not only the aggressive, metastatic character of malignant melanoma, the primary of which may go unnoticed, but also the huge aspect of the mass occupying the entire left axilla, requiring aggressive surgery. |
