| Summary, etc. | Les thérapies orales (TO) font partie des avancées thérapeutiques significatives en cancérologie. Elles impliquent une prise en charge ambulatoire coordonnée et nécessitent pour le patient une grande autonomie de gestion. Grâce au soutien de l’Agence régionale de santé (ARS) Occitanie, l’Institut du cancer de Montpellier (ICM) a mis en place un accompagnement des patients par des patientes partenaires accompagnatrices (PPA). L’objectif de cette expérimentation est double : d’une part, renforcer le suivi ambulatoire actuel et réduire l’isolement social ; d’autre part, évaluer la plus-value de cet accompagnement. Deux PPA ont été recrutées, formées et intégrées pleinement à l’équipe de soins dédiée aux TO. Mis en œuvre en janvier 2023, les premiers retours d’expérience montrent une acceptation de l’accompagnement par plus de 50 % des patients, qui se sentent compris, rassurés, en confiance et soutenus moralement par les PPA. Un autre bénéfice constaté est la fluidité et la simplification de leurs échanges avec l’équipe soignante. Un impact attendu de cet accompagnement est d’améliorer l’observance ou de déceler plus précocement des toxicités. L’évaluation de cette expérimentation, prévue sur 3 ans, rendra compte des bénéfices pour les patients, les PPA et les soignants mais visera aussi à déterminer un modèle médico-économique pour pérenniser et transférer cette expérimentation sur d’autres territoires de santé. |

| Summary, etc. | Oral therapy (OT) is one of the most advanced therapies in cancer treatment, however patients are required to be managed as outpatients, which calls for a high level of patient autonomy. With the financial support of the Occitanie regional health agency (ARS Occitanie), the Montpellier Cancer Institute has set up a patient support programme involving accompanying patient partners (APPs). The aims of this programme are: to enhance current outpatient care for the patient and reduce social withdrawal; and to assess the added value of this additional support by APPs. Two APPs were recruited, trained, and included as full-fledged members of the OT care team. Implemented in January 2023, initial feedback shows that over 50% of the patients accept peer support offered and feel understood, reassured, confident, and morally supported by APPs. Another benefit provided by the programme is the support to facilitate their exchange with the OT care team. One expected impact of this support is to improve compliance with treatment and detect toxicity at an earlier stage. The evaluation of this support programme, planned over three years, will take into account the benefits for patients, the care team and APPs themselves, with the aim of identifying a medico-economic model to further validate the programme and transfer it to other healthcare areas. |
