| Summary, etc. | Le concept d’oncosexologie est apparu en 2006 et s’articule sur la sexologie et l’oncologie. Tout cancer peut entraîner une altération de la vie sexuelle et avoir un retentissement global sur la personne et sa ou son partenaire de vie. La sexualité ne se réduit pas à une fonction comme les autres, qui répondent ou non à une pulsion qu’il faut satisfaire. Elle joue un rôle fondamental dans la relation humaine, la relation à l’autre et dans le développement de la personnalité. Elle fait partie intégrante des principales composantes de la vie humaine. Les études et la littérature nous montrent qu’il est important aujourd’hui d’identifier les problèmes sexologiques consécutifs aux cancers et aux traitements pour améliorer le vécu de la maladie et la qualité de vie globale dans l’après-cancer, mais aussi pour mettre en œuvre des interventions de sensibilisation des soignants et de prévention chez les patients afin d’optimiser la compliance thérapeutique. La consultation oncosexologique s’appuie sur l’impact de l’annonce de la maladie et prend en compte la perturbation dynamique et psychique de la personne ainsi que les troubles fonctionnels acquis ou induits par les traitements et cela quels que soient l’âge, l’organe traité ou le stade de la maladie. L’information de la répercussion des traitements sur la sexualité est un droit du patient et un devoir déontologique du soignant. Cet article a pour but de sensibiliser les soignants quant à leur rôle préventif sur la qualité de vie des patients traités pour un cancer et le thème universel de la sexualité humaine. |

| Summary, etc. | The concept of oncosexology emerged in 2006, and is based on sexology and oncology. Any cancer can affect sexual response and have a global impact on an individual and their life partner. Sexuality cannot be reduced to a function like any other, which may or may not respond to an impulse that must be satisfied. It plays a fundamental role in human relationships, relationships with others, and in the development of personality. It is an integral part of the main components of human life. Previous studies have shown the importance of identifying sexological problems following cancer and treatments, to improve handling of the disease and overall quality of life after cancer, but also, to implement interventions to promote awareness for caregivers and prevention among patients in order to optimise therapeutic compliance. The oncosexological consultation is based on the impact of communicating the diagnosis of the disease and takes into account the dynamic and psychological consequences on a person as well as the functional disorders acquired or induced by the treatments, irrespective of age, the organ treated, or stage of disease. Patients have a right to information on the impact of treatment on sexuality, and it is an ethical duty of the caregiver to provide this. This article aims to raise awareness among caregivers in order to improve the quality of life of patients treated for cancer regarding all aspects of sexuality. |
