Although ketamine is a relatively safe substance in a medical setting, its abuse has caused serious harm to individuals and society. The aim of this article is to review the history of ketamine, its growing role as a “club drug,” its psychoactive effects, and the withdrawal symptoms associated with ketamine abuse, and to summarize recommendations for its management. |

Aunque la ketamina es una sustancia relativamente segura en el ámbito médico, su abuso ha mostrado graves perjuicios en las personas y la sociedad. El objetivo de este artículo es revisar la historia de la ketamina, su creciente papel como “droga del baile”, sus efectos psicoactivos así como los síntomas de abstinencia asociados al abuso de ketamina y, por último, resumir las recomendaciones para su tratamiento. |
