Summary, etc. The author presents three theorical trains of thoughts on parentality, paternity, and parental role with male homosexuals. The ways one belongs to or starts a family having changed enormously in the past fifty years, the definitions of parental role and parenting have broadened somewhat. Psychoanalysis opened the way regarding genders (maternal and paternal roles) by accentuating the fact that everybody is psychically bisexual. This concept enables us to consider that the depositary or each of these differentiated parental roles is not unique and do not refers only to one’s gender. However, people who did not beget and who are not part of heterosexual functioning can still see their parental abilities being disputed and even denied. This work tends to consider, with the film Cachorro as an example, that homosexuality, in this case male, doesn’t in theory constitute a barrier to parentality nor to a paternal parenting role, thus becoming a contemporary variation which fits in a family and society continuum in evolution.
