Pourtant, le gouvernement fédéral du pays semble réticent à fournir un support réellement efficace aux connaissances traditionnelles, notamment relatives à la protection de la biodiversité et au développement durable, face aux biotechnologies. Cet article tente de présenter la façon dont l’Australie fait face au problème, tout en étant coincé entre le rôle essentiel joué par les connaissances aborigènes vis-à-vis de la gestion de la biodiversité et les problèmes émanant des représentations et droits afférents à ces mêmes connaissances. |

| Summary, etc. | Australia is the repository of a rich biodiversity and the related scientific knowledge. But the federal authorities seem reluctant to provide an effective support for traditional knowledge regarding the conservation of biological diversity and sustainable use, especially in the face of biotechnologies. This paper tries to give an overview of the manner in which Australia is responding to the challenge of addressing issues in these areas, caught between the essential role that Aboriginal knowledge plays in biodiversity management and the problems born from the representations and rights of Aboriginal knowledge. |
