| Summary, etc. | Chapitre 5. Des robots pour l’autonomie des personnesLes robots ont longtemps été considérés comme une menace pour l’humanité. Que ce soit dès ses premières apparitions dans les œuvres de fictions ou lors de son arrivée dans les usines où il a été vu comme une menace pour l’emploi. Mais cela fait pourtant plus de vingt ans que des chercheurs et des médecins ont envisagé les robots comme des outils pouvant aider des personnes en situation de perte d’autonomie à mieux assumer leur quotidien. Dans cet article nous présentons ces nouveaux robots assistants et mais aussi les futurs robots compagnons qui vivront à nos côtés. Les problèmes scientifiques et techniques à résoudre pour aboutir à des produits largement diffusés sont bien identifiés et pris en charge par les communautés industrielles et académiques. Evidemment, compte-tenu de l’imaginaire que la fiction a forgé, des interrogations surgissent sur les menaces que ces nouveaux objets pourraient représenter. Nous montrons que s’ils sont en effet d’un genre nouveau, les robots ne font que nous reposer les questions qui accompagnent toujours l’irruption de nouvelles technologies. |

| Summary, etc. | The aim of this paper is to propose a new vision on robots. Generally seen as a threat against humanity or at least against employment, we will demonstrate that this new kind of machine can be a support not only for people in loss of autonomy but even for everyone. They will not replace people, they will assist them. The mass production of these companion robots will create a new industry that could take the relay of the automotive and the computer industries in this century. This access to the mass market will require solving technological and acceptability problems by a common work of researchers, engineers, users and the major stakeholders of our society. |
