| Summary, etc. | Dans cette contribution, nous analysons quatre récits cliniques concernant des situations de basse vision à Madagascar en insistant sur les questions éthiques soulevées. Nous identifions plusieurs facteurs aggravant la lourdeur du handicap, y compris la basse vision, en montrant l’importance de l’environnement en ce domaine. À Madagascar, comme ailleurs, des lois et des règles existent pour alléger le fardeau du handicap et faciliter l’intégration des personnes concernées, mais l’écart entre les intentions affichées par les autorités publiques à et les mesures prises concrètement sur le terrain est considérable. Un changement de perception est nécessaire à l’égard des personnes atteintes de basse vision en insistant sur la valeur de solidarité. Une démarche d’éducation à la réflexion éthique pourrait contribuer à un tel changement. Bien que concentrée sur la situation malgache et la basse vision, notre analyse est globalement transposable à d’autres contextes et à d’autres handicaps. |

| Summary, etc. | Low vision in Madagascar and education in ethicsIn this contribution, we analyze four clinical cases relating to low vision in Madagascar while insisting on the raised ethical questions. We identify several factors worsening the disabilities, including the low vision, by showing the importance of the environment in this field. In Madagascar, like elsewhere, laws and rules are dedicated to the alleviation of the difficulties lived by persons with disabilities, but the gap is huge between the intentions displayed by the public authorities and the measures taken concretely on the ground. A change of perception is necessary with regard to people with low vision while insisting on the value of solidarity. An education in ethics could contribute to such a change. Although concentrated on the Malagasy situation and the low vision, our analysis is applicable to other contexts and other disabilities. |
