520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | With the development of modern science and the prevailing invasion of technology in our daily life, the hospital has difficulties covering human values that once characterized it.Established during the Middle Age, the hospital was indeed the place par excellence of hospitality, where, through the reception of pilgrims and caring for the poors, poured out the ontological human needs of give and receive. But with the emergence of science and nonstop technic revolution of the society, these values seems to be brought down to the bottom of the priority list, and hospitals has become such an environment favoring more performance than humanism. This brief study is to explore the relationship between hospital and hospitality, both on linguistic/semantic and practical level. From ancient Greece to the present day, through the western Middle Ages. It is emphasized the inseparability of these two terms (hospital and hospitality), and show that the urgency today for hospitals is to reconnect with his human values that once prevailed. |
