520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | At the end of the eighteen century, the first european navigators conveyed the Tahitian myth of food abundance, in image of a terrestrial Eden. But, despite the appearance of plenty of natural vegetation, and the numerous ceremonies of gift to the navigators, the ancient Mao’hi gave rise to a strictly limited abundance society, where fertility rites were the subject of an omnipresent cult. European myth of abundance and mao’hi cult of fertility are the two terms of this first misunderstanding, which may clear up the contemporary foods habits and body representation. |
