| Summary, etc. | L’article aborde les sociabilités ordinaires dans un espace périurbain pluriculturel en lien avec l’appartenance au pays. Dans le contexte d’une commune loyaliste où la présence kanak avait été très tôt effacée, je retrace d’abord l’extension de l’habitat au sein du quartier de Katiramona-Nondoué à partir des années 1970. Une sociabilité familiale et de voisinage singularise cette partie nord de Dumbéa à l’interface de la brousse et de Nouméa. À travers leurs habitudes communes et la représentation d’eux-mêmes, les habitants, en majorité de condition modeste, font état d’une société locale unifiée par ses traits communs, même si l’investissement dans la vie de quartier contrecarre difficilement le cadre de groupes familiaux et culturels localisés. Si le sentiment d’appartenance au pays fait apparaître des choix de société opposés, il reflète en revanche cette proximité des groupes par la complexité des identités et la souplesse de leur affirmation, ce qui peut apparaître en dernier lieu comme une forme de distance envers les clivages politiques. |

| Summary, etc. | This article deals with ordinary sociability in a multicultural peri-urban area in relation to the notion of belonging to a country. In the context of a loyalist commune where the Kanak presence had very quickly been erased, I first retrace the extension of the habitat within the district of Katiramona-Nondoué from the 1970s. A familial and neighborly sociability distinguishes this northern part of Dumbéa, at the interface between the bush and Noumea. Through their common habits and the representation of themselves, the inhabitants, mostly of modest means, show a local society unified by its common features, even if the investment in neighborhood life hardly counteracts localized family and cultural groups. While the sense of belonging to the country reveals opposing societal choices, it reflects this proximity of groups through the complexity of identities and the flexibility of their affirmation. This may ultimately appear as a means of creating a distance with regard to political divisions. |
