| Summary, etc. | La question de la séparation entre syntaxe et discours constitue une question toujours vive pour la linguistique contemporaine. Benveniste et Culioli s’opposent à une telle séparation. On examine leurs arguments, ainsi que les caractères ordonnant selon eux l’énoncé ainsi inscrit à l’interface entre syntaxe et discours. Opération de prédication selon Benveniste, « schéma de lexis » pour Culioli qui ajoute ainsi une dimension temporelle à la relation prédicative : dans les deux cas, l’énonciation se trouve arrimée à ce que Benveniste appelle « pensée » et Culioli « geste mental ». Du point de vue formel, c’est la « force intégrative » des unités, selon Benveniste, ou la façon dont celles-ci « interagissent », selon Culioli, qui tiennent lieu de ce qui dans d’autres modèles serait un structure propre à configurer l’énoncé, Culioli soulignant le caractère proliférant des relations qui peuvent s’y déployer. |

| Summary, etc. | The question of the division between syntax and discourse remains a live issue for modern linguistics. Benveniste and Culioli reject such a division. We will review their arguments, as well as the caracterization they give for such products of both syntax and discourse. The sentence is defined by Benveniste as a predication unit; for Culioli it is organized by a “schem of lexis”, that is a predicative schem with a more temporal dimension; in both case, syntax is given as being based on cognition. As for the formal aspect of the utterances analyzed, they are viewed as layouts of morphosyntactic units, rather than as structured configurations. Both linguists apply a heuristic approach linked for Culioli to the search for proliferating embedded structures that call for a dynamic conception of cognition in terms of mental gestures. |
