| Summary, etc. | En domaine oïlique, les atlas linguistiques constituent de véritables trésors, mais qui sont parfois soit mal considérés, soit trop révérés pour être utilisés avec profit. Or, comme toute source, ceux-ci doivent être exploités en fonction de leurs caractéristiques, i.e. comme de merveilleuses collections sauvegardant un patrimoine en cours de disparition, et non comme un « instantané de la langue ». Pour ce faire, nous rappelons dans une première partie les conditions et les modalités de leur émergence. Ensuite, nous présentons une nouvelle enquête en domaine picard, destinée à mesurer les mécanismes de francisation de ce parler. Nos analyses se fondent d’abord uniquement sur nos données, avant d’envisager un dialogue avec les matériaux atlantographiques, avec toute la prudence requise et à la lueur des considérations préalables. |

| Summary, etc. | In the Oïl domain, linguistic atlases are extremely valuable but are sometimes ill-considered or overly revered to be very useful. But as with any other resource, they should be used according to their nature, i.e. as a rich collection of data representing a disappearing heritage rather than as a “snapshot in time” of the language. In the first part of this paper, we review the conditions and methods involving their emergence. In the second part, we present a new survey in the Picardy area in order to measure how this dialect is being Frenchified. Our initial analysis is based only on our own data, before subsequently undertaking a comparison with the atlas data, with all due caution and in view of the necessary considerations. |
