Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | The traditional classification of the French verbs with the reflexive form se (the so-called ‹ se-verbs›) includes four prototypes: reflexive, reciprocal, passive, and lexicalized se (Creissels 2006). This study examines another, less well-documented type of ‹ se-verbs›, recognized as antipassive here. We will explore the antipassive function of these verbs in the context of an oblique argument. Based on a fine-grained semantic analysis, we will ultimately distinguish antipassive se-forms from other se-types that may occur with an oblique argument, arguing that the latter represent reflexive or lexicalized verbal forms. |
