| Summary, etc. | L’article appréhende l’expressivité à travers une forme de réalisation archétypale : l’exclamation et son représentant graphique, le point d’exclamation. La description de la présence énonciatrice et de l’effet sur le récepteur, ainsi que le rapport entre croissance ou décroissance verbale dans les formes exclamatives, permettent d’interroger l’expressivité en termes d’historicité mais aussi de distinguer expressivité et impressivité et, enfin, d’examiner la dimension non verbale autour de la question de l’inscription du corps dans l’écrit. À partir de ces rappels et analyses, l’article s’interroge – de manière plus théorique – sur les rapports entre subjectivité, expressivité/impressivité et modalité. Pour ce faire, les auteurs prennent appui sur ce qui a été décrit comme un style non expressif, neutre (« l’écriture plate » de Ernaux, décrite dans une formule très ballyenne comme une manière de rester ancrée dans « la langue de tous »). |

| Summary, etc. | The article first looks at expressivity through an archetypal form of realisation: The exclamation and its graphic representative, the exclamation mark. The description of the enunciator’s presence and the effect on the receiver, as well as the relationship between verbal growth and decrease in exclamatory forms, allow us to question expressivity in terms of historicity, but also to distinguish between expressivity and impressivity, and finally to examine the non-verbal dimension around the question of the inscription of the body in writing. Based on these reminders and analyses, the article examines –in a more theoretical way– the relationship between subjectivity, expressivity/impressivity and modality. The authors take as a starting point what has been described as a non-expressive, neutral style ("flat writing" by Ernaux, described in a very Ballyesque formula as a way of remaining anchored in "the language of all"). |
