520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | Thinking the ennemy or the concept of double empathy and its importance for dialogue in situations of conflictThrough the exploration of object relations, psychoanalysis can help us define the conditions necessary to a true dialogue. The ordinary experience of empathy acknowleges the other as both separate and different. However, conflict situations may lead to splitting so that empathy for one’s people makes similar empathy for the opponent uneasy if not impossible. Hence the importance of the concept of ‘dual empathy’ as a way to civilize conflicts and reach a true dialogue. Whereas empathy towards one’s people is a question of survival, empathy for others requires an active process and expresses a higher wish to further conscious awareness. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
