Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | The psychologist and his own culture : counter transference in clinicsThis article examines the insidious - even pernicious - link between prejudice and counter - transference within the psychotherapeutic relation. Using two clinical examples, the author presents the contextual ups and downs of theoretically intracultural psychotherapies, as the patient and the clinician share the same culture. However, being both exposed to acculturation, this intracultural relation becomes intercultural. Therefore, the relevance of the categorisation as developed by Devereux is questionable. In fact, Devereux distinguished three categories of psychotherapies : intercultural, intracultural and metacultural. But would not it be easier and even more economical to consider psychotherapy as a rather interpsychical reality, which does not set aside the cultural foundations sealing the clinical relation ? |

Summary, etc. |
