520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |

Summary, etc. | Working with public service interpreters is complex, and training in this field of practice is relatively rare. The module « Mediation and interpreting practices in transcultural setting » is a continuing education diploma (DU) offered jointly to practitioners in various disciplines (medical, social, educational) and to interpreters. The objective of the qualitative and exploratory research project presented here was to highlight the effects of this training on collaboration between practitioners and interpreters, especially in terms of the issues of power, control and trust. Thirty-two DU participants (24 practitioners and 8 interpreters) responded to a socio-demographic questionnaire and then participated in group interviews. The vast majority had both professional and personal experience of ethnic diversity. In particular, through the personal reflection and collaborative work it engenders, this training fosters a sense of legitimacy for these c-diverse protagonists, which is likely to have a positive influence on the relationship between practitioners and interpreters, as well as on the recourse to mediation and even on the development of extra-professional projects in the community. Despite the changes observed, the interpreters still struggle with a lack of recognition from the institutions. |

Summary, etc. |
