Summary, etc. | The chronicles Relations des Jésuites de la Nouvelle France are among the richest sources of information on the colonization of New France. Although their value to scholars is well known, little attention has been paid to how they were shaped by editors in Paris prior to publication. The few scholars who have commented on the work of these editors, who are often anonymous, have concluded that it was of no importance. This article assembles the available clues about the editorial process in Paris and argues that writers and editors in the French capital played a major role in shaping the texts. |
