Instead of the confining expression “radicalized,” the authors prefer “poorly converted,” drawing inspiration from Freud, who spoke of the “poorly baptized”—which is instead the diagnosis of a confinement. The spread of neoliberalism has given rise to a disaffection of meaning, and we are apparently confronted with an impasse between a religion of secularism or a call to a radical form of religion. Working from a number of dimensions—deculturation, secularism, marginalization, social links—this article explores the reasons for this conversion. |
