Summary, etc. Introduction: Digital technology has made its way into all areas of modern society, including orthodontics, where it is now possible to perform 3D imaging. This is achieved primarily through intraoral 3D scanning cameras, which digitize dental arches, and cone beam imaging, which creates full or partial virtual models of the patient’s skull. Materials and methods: In this article, we present the case of a patient suffering from a temporomandibular dysfunction, analyzed using a simple-to-use 3D reconstruction technique. Discussion: Reconstructed 3D images are highly value for diagnosis as well as for planning treatment and follow-up. The examination time is short and the X-ray dose emitted is lower than that of conventional CT scans, comparable to the dose emitted for a cephalometric radiograph using Ultra Low Dose technology. Conclusion: This 3D imaging technique can therefore be regarded as the method of choice for recording bone changes in the temporomandibular joint, even though it is not currently considered a first-line examination. However, it remains a complementary decision-making tool and cannot replace treatment prescription by a practitioner.
