| Summary, etc. | Cet article analyse en détail les efforts pour introduire le management à l’américaine dans le système éducatif français après la Deuxième Guerre Mondiale et les raisons de leur échec presque complet. Parmi ces raisons on relève en premier lieu la réticence des responsables des grandes écoles à tout changement ainsi que les confrontations entre différents groupes d’intérêts économiques et politiques pour le contrôle de la formation continue des cadres et dirigeants. Le renouveau commence seulement vers la fin des années 1950, sous l’impulsion du ministère de l’Éducation Nationale, du Commissariat au Plan et, surtout, de la Chambre de Commerce de Paris. |

| Summary, etc. | Productivity and management education in France (1945-1960) : an unsuccessful attemptThis article examines the reasons for the apparent failure to “americanise” French management education in the immediate post-war period. Despite considerable US influence in the wake of the Marshall plan, there was little change in the organisation and content of the training for managerial positions in France until the late 1950s. As the in-depth analysis shows, this was mainly due to the reticence of the existing institutions and the struggle among different economic and political interest groups for control over efforts to improve the further training of practitioners. |
