Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | The Grammaire méthodique du français’ : writing a linguistic and general grammar of French As a book which seeks to communicate easy to understand linguistic descriptions, the Grammaire méthodique du français (Methodical French grammar) is designed primarily for teachers and students of French. It is an overall approach to contemporary French grammar, that is to say a grammar in the broad sense of the term, which presents the main fields of linguistic description of French. The theoretical and epistemological basis of the book is a federative principle, which combines different linguistic theories, connecting these descriptive models of each level (lexical, morphological, etc.) to each other. The architectural organisation of the book articulates its grammatical contents around a general axis which goes from forms to meaning, beginning with a characterisation of forms to reach the meanings they convey. This semasiological framework in which morpho-syntax plays a leading role, is complemented by onomasiological explanations. Finally the work can also be defined by its terminological choices, by its position on norms and variation and by the way examples are dealt with. |
