| Summary, etc. | Publiée en 1774, La Reine Esther est le fruit d’une double campagne d’écriture, menée à la fin du XVIIe siècle par un rabbin de L’Isle-sur-Sorgues, Mardochée Astruc, et au XVIIIe siècle par le rabbin de Carpentras, Jacob (de) Lunel. Écrite en provençal, cette « tragediou » est représentée chaque année à Carpentras dans la partie juive de la ville à l’occasion de la fête de Pourim. Les auteurs ont fidèlement suivi le récit de la Bible hébraïque tout en se livrant à un travail d’élaboration littéraire. |

| Summary, etc. | Published in 1774, La Reine Esther is the result of two writing campaigns, one led at the end of the 17th century by a rabbi of L’Isle-sur-Sorgues, Mardochée Astruc, and the other in the 18th by the rabbi of Carpentras, Jacob (de) Lunel. Written in Provençal, this “ tragediou” is staged each year in Carpentras in the Jewish part of the town for the Purim feast. The authors faithfully followed the story of the Hebrew Bible to elaborate a literary work. |
