| Summary, etc. | La Mesnardière publie en 1662 un recueil de Relations de guerre précédées d’une « Dissertation » sur l’Histoire. Cet article se propose de dégager leurs caractéristiques majeures, en les situant par rapport aux théories et aux pratiques historiographiques du XVIIe siècle. La Mesnardière, qui adhère à la conception traditionnelle d’une histoire oratoire et édifiante, donne des relations de siège qui ressortissent à l’histoire officielle et à la célébration de Louis XIV en « roi de guerre ». |

| Summary, etc. | The year 1662 witnessed the publication of La Mesnardière’s Relations de guerre, with a “Dissertation” about History. This paper aims to highlight the main characteristics of these texts, by comparing them with the historiographical theories and writings of the French seventeenth century. La Mesnardière, who sees, in a traditional way, history as an oratorical and edifying work, wrote narratives of military sieges which belong to official history and celebrate Louis XIV as a “king of war”. |
