520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |

Summary, etc. | Attributed to Fancan, the Tombeau des romans could be the result of a collaboration with Sorel. Starting from the observation that the enunciative instance of the work follows the law of dissimulation dear to the baroque and libertine aesthetics, the article demonstrates that the Tombeau is a text to be read in the second degree. Like many novelists of the time, Fancan is in reality a cunning flatterer who, pretending to mock the novels, tickles his readers, inviting them to look behind the Tombeau for a true monument to the art of the novel. |
