Cette étude se propose d’envisager l’incivilité – telle que la conçoit le mémorialiste – comme entorse : tout d’abord comme entorse objective, explicite, par opposition à d’autres conceptions de l’incivilité ; ensuite, s’agissant de son contenu et de sa portée, comme entorse qui n’est bénigne qu’en apparence ; enfin, la fausse monnaie chassant la bonne, comme entorse éminemment contagieuse. |

| Summary, etc. | Saint-Simon, in the Mémoires, places great emphasis on the prerogatives of the peerage, and consequently gives pride of place to questions of etiquette and ceremony. This explains his interest in the matter of incivility. This study seeks to understand incivility — as the memorialist himself envisions it — as an infringement: first as an infringement in the literal sense, in opposition to other conceptions of incivility; next, in terms of its contents and implications, as a type of infringement which is benign only in appearance; and finally, as a highly contagious contravention of courtly norms. |
