| Summary, etc. | La cartographie participative, souvent présentée comme un facteur de démocratisation et d’empowerment des sociétés fait également l’objet de critiques en raison des récupérations et instrumentalisations dont elle est parfois victime. Considérant que la cartographie est avant tout un langage de pouvoir, nous questionnons une série d’expériences de cartographie participative à Madagascar. Les exemples malgaches montrent que dans un contexte de forte dépendance technique, financière et politique, le déploiement de ce type d’approche pose avec acuité la question éthique et nécessite une réflexion sur la portée sociale des cartes présentées comme participatives. |

| Summary, etc. | Participative cartography for local development and natural resources management in Madagascar : empowerment, digital imperialism or participative illusion ?Participative cartography is often presented as a factor of democratisation and empowerment of societies, but it is also a butt of criticism because of strategies of recuperation and instrumentalization it may be the victim of. Endorsing that cartography is above all a language of power, we will examine a series of experiments in participative cartography in Madagascar. Malagasy examples prove that in a context of heavy technical, financial and political dependency, that kind of approach immediately conjures up an ethical question, and demands a reflexion on the social influence and power of “participatives” maps. |
