| Summary, etc. | Depuis l’époque coloniale, l’économie de l’Amérique centrale dépend de l’extérieur, elle est une région du monde où les dynamiques transnationales sont multiples et anciennes, liées à la double dimension intercontinentale et interocéanique de l’Isthme. L’objet de l’article est de contribuer à analyser l’intégration de l’Amérique centrale dans la mondialisation et les marchés internationaux, et comment cette intégration a façonné les paysages et entraîné des mutations territoriales importantes. Le plan de l’article s’organise en deux parties. Dans un premier temps, il s’agira de montrer l’ancienneté et les caractères spécifiques de la place de l’Amérique centrale dans le champ de forces géopolitiques et géoéconomiques qui s’impriment dans le cadre d’une économie mondialisée. La deuxième partie développe un exemple illustratif, celui de l’extension récente des plantations d’ananas au Costa Rica. |

| Summary, etc. | Since colonial times, Central America's economy has depended on the outside world. It is a region of the world where transnational dynamics are multiple and long-standing, linked to the double intercontinental and interoceanic dimension of the Isthmus. The aim of the article is to contribute to the analysis of the integration of Central America into globalization and international markets, and how this integration has shaped the landscapes and brought about important territorial mutations. The paper is organised in two parts. First, it will show the antiquity and specific characteristics of Central America's place in the field of geopolitical and geo-economic forces that are being imprinted in the context of a globalised economy. The second part develops an illustrative example, that of the recent expansion of pineapple plantations in Costa Rica. |
