| Summary, etc. | Pour présenter ce numéro de L’Information géographique consacré à la géographie du politique inscrite au concours, cette brève mise au point tente de se placer dans un débat qui a vécu mais qui peut encore agiter quelques vieilles querelles. Cela pour en libérer les nouvelles générations de géographes. Sans remonter jusqu’à leurs sources, les moments de bifurcation sont soulignés pour aboutir aux enjeux d’aujourd’hui comme ils apparaissent et se rejoignent dans un couple provisoire : subsidiarité et argumentation. Argumentation parce que les textes réunis en montrent la portée en controverses qui se jouent autour de ce qui est considéré comme juste idéologiquement donc légitime politiquement, pointant les niveaux de la justesse là où elle s’argumente en subsidiarité. Contre toute attente, l’échelle de pertinence est malmenée quand principes (globaux) et actions (locales) se télescopent. |

| Summary, etc. | To introduce this issue of L'Information géographique devoted to the geography of politics, this brief update attempts to place itself in the context of a debate that is over, but which may still be stirring up some old quarrels. The aim is to liberate new generations of geographers from this debate. Without going all the way back to their sources, we underline the turning points, leading to today's issues as they appear and come together in a provisional pairing: subsidiarity and argumentation. Argumentation, because the texts brought together show the scope of the controversies that are played out around what is considered ideologically right, and therefore politically legitimate, pointing out the levels of rightness where it is argued in subsidiarity. Contrary to all expectations, the scale of relevance is mishandled when (global) principles and (local) actions telescope. |
