| Summary, etc. | La notion de transition énergétique est mobilisée pour décrire les évolutions des systèmes énergétiques sans toujours prendre en compte leur dimension territoriale. C’est ce que propose cet article en prenant l’Amérique latine comme cas d’étude. Dans un premier temps il insiste sur le poids des héritages qui ont façonné les systèmes énergétiques du continent au xxe siècle en lien avec l’affirmation des États et des compagnies publiques pour fournir une couverture large de services énergétiques. Dans un second temps, l’article analyse les projets pouvant contribuer à une transition énergétique et à une réduction des émissions de GES. Il montre qu’en dépit de ressources abondantes pour les énergies renouvelables et de programmes pionniers, la transition reste encore limitée. Enfin, les conditions d’une transition énergétique adaptée au contexte latino-américain sont présentées |

| Summary, etc. | The concept of energy transition is used to describe the evolution of energy systems, but the spatial aspects of those changes are not always considered. This is what this paper intends to do, using Latin America as a case study. In a first step, the paper insists on the importance on inherited energy systems, shaped throughout the 20th Century, in line with the strengthening of States and public companies. Those systems have been able to bring a wide coverage of energy services in Latin American Countries. The article then moves to the changes that might contribute to an energy transition and a reduction of GHG emission. It shows that in spite of abundant resources for renewable energies and pioneer initiatives, energy transition in still limited. Finally, the paper points out some of the conditions for an energy transition adapted to the Latin American context. |
