520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. This paper questions the spontaneous nature of the politicisation of workers living in a Russophone region of Ukraine. Their mobilisation against the latest Russian invasion is especially paradoxical since their city has always been considered pro-Russian, and the local population did not have any interest for politics. Relying on the fieldwork conducted between 2018 and 2022, the author shows that no ideology is able to take roots among the workers, who distrust politics. Nevertheless, they instrumentalise political structures and narratives in the pursuit of their individual strategies of distinction and of accumulation of various types of capital. That being said, the paper shows the existence of social structures and mechanisms that enable solidary practices even though they often remain unnoticed by the workers themselves.
