Cet essai examine la façon dont la critique génétique peut devenir un outil efficace d’analyse narrative (notamment d’analyse des évocations narratives produites par la pensée lorsqu’elle invente) dans le contexte de ce nouveau paradigme post-cognitiviste. La genèse de L’Innommable sert de corpus de recherche pour montrer comment Beckett s’est peu à peu éloigné d’un modèle cartésien de l’esprit et comment ses brouillons multiples font partie de ce modèle alternatif, annonçant ainsi une approche post-cartésienne de la narration et de la conscience. |

| Summary, etc. | Genesis of The Unnamable: an experiment in postcognitivist genetic criticismRecent « enactive » models of the mind suggest that cognitive processes do not exclusively take place « in » the head, but in constant interaction with an external environment. The present essay examines how genetic criticism can be made operational for narrative analysis (notably narrative evocations of the fictional mind) against the background of this new postcognitive paradigm. The genesis of The Unnamable serves as the research corpus to show how Beckett gradually moved away from a Cartesian model of the mind and how the multiple drafts are part and parcel of his alternative model, thus prefiguring a post-Cartesian approach to narrative and mind. |
