D’abord personnage des premiers romans, la mère de l’écrivaine semble perdre ses caractéristiques romanesques dans les récits factuels, Une femme et « Je ne suis pas sortie de ma nuit ». Pour autant, le romanesque n’est pas congédié : il s’inscrit dans la structure de l’œuvre et dans la tension de l’écriture à la recherche d’une « vérité » des images maternelles. |

| Summary, etc. | If the mother figure occupies a non negligible part in Annie Ernaux’s work, its representation is still being questioned. At first a character in the former novels, the female writer’s mother seems to lose its romantic characteristics in the narratives of facts : A Woman’s Story and I Remain in Darkness. However, the romantic is not dismissed : it is inscribed in the work’s structure and in the tension of the writing in quest of a « truth » of maternal images. |
