520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | There are two very different sides in the work of Louis Althusser, the first one is a very strong and radical step away from the so-called humanistic interpretations of Marx which were prevalent in Europe during the fifties and early sixties. Althusser presented then a very rigorous reading of Marx. But the tools for such a reading, which were those of structuralism, made him focus on reproduction at the expense of production, and this succeeded with the device of an « imaginary Marx » supposed to replace the real one, together with a strong denial of dialectic. This second side is clearly regressive. |
