Summary, etc. The transformation in ways of life and their social consequences are a basic issue. Initial and ongoing training appear here as the essential elements for the understanding of change. Ongoing education is indispensable for individual development, technological progress, the prevention of social problems, and for action in favour of social cohesion. Training fosters innovation in public policy, including socio-educational and sanitation measures. In this respect ongoing education bears on three particular areas, the interests of social systems, of institutions, and of private individuals. In all these areas there are three objectives : the best and most efficient use of resources, the highest quality of social work interventions, and the maximum job satisfaction. However, the attainment of these objectives depends on the means available and on the existence of a real political will.

Summary, etc. Las transformaciones de los modos de vida y sus consecuencias sociales suponen un importante desaffo. Para dar sentido al cambio, la formaciôn y la for-maciôn continua aparecen como elementos esenciales e indispensables para el desarrollo de los individuos, los progresos tecnolôgicos, la prevenciôn de los problemas sociales, las acciones a favor de la cohesiôn social. Favorecen la inno-vaciôn en el seno de las politicas pûblicas, por ejemplo, la intervenciôn socio-educativa y sanitaria. Asi, la formaciôn continua reenvia a un triple eje de intere-ses positivos : los intereses de los regimenes sociales, de las instituciones y de los individuos. Estos tres ejes aspiran a un triple objetivo : disposiciôn ôptima (eficaz) de los recursos, calidad de las intervenciones, satisfacciôn en el trabajo. Acceder a estos objetivos supone sin embargo contar con medios y una verdadera volun-tad politica.
