| Summary, etc. | Isabelle Backouche et Sarah Gensburger décrivent leur expérience de valorisation des recherches scientifiques qu’elles produisent. Animées par le souci de faire partager au plus grand nombre ces connaissances, à des fins citoyennes et pour répondre aux injonctions de leurs institutions qui portent le message de l’utilité des sciences sociales, elles ont depuis près de cinq ans surmonté plusieurs écueils pour parvenir à imposer l’idée que les chercheurs et chercheuses doivent être moteurs dans cette entreprise, sans laisser la part belle aux professionnels du numérique. Elles sont parvenues ainsi à élaborer plusieurs balades sonores dans Paris, partant du principe qu’il faut ancrer une histoire sociale dans le territoire parisien, et à coconstruire une webapp qui peut offrir des chemins sonores au plus grand nombre grâce à l’usage du smartphone. Au-delà de ces enjeux sociaux, elles analysent également les défis épistémologiques soulevés par leur démarche de médiation, montrant que cette dernière n’est pas du tout éloignée des exigences du métier d’historien. Leur engagement dans la valorisation est aussi une manière de mettre en doute certaines dérives du monde de la recherche, notamment les humanités numériques, grand vertige techniciste qui emporte l’adhésion sans qu’aucun programme de recherche ne les accompagne. |

| Summary, etc. | Isabelle Backouche and Sarah Gensburger describe their experience in disseminating and promoting the scholarship that they produce. They are driven by their desire to share this knowledge with the widest possible audience, both for civic purposes and to meet the demands of their institutions that emphasise the usefulness of social science scholarship. For the past five years, they have overcome several obstacles to lend credence to the idea that scholars should play a key role in this undertaking, without turning the reins over to digital professionals. They have produced several recorded walking tours in Paris, based on the principle that social history must be anchored in the Paris geography. They have also co-produced a web app that distributes these walking tour recordings to a broad audience via smartphone. Aside from the social stakes, these two scholars also analyse the epistemological stakes of their media-based approach, showing that it is in no way removed from the demands of the historian’s craft. Their commitment to disseminating and promoting scholarship challenges certain prevailing trends in the research field, such as the “digital humanities”, a dizzying technician-centred approach that has gained popularity despite not being associated with any scholarly programme. |
