| Summary, etc. | Au sein du discours journalistique, le titre de presse est un lieu où s’inscrivent nombre de jeux de langage prenant appui sur un socle d’expressions et de constructions syntaxiques figées. Ce phénomène est dû aux contraintes scripturales et aux fonctions communicatives propres à l’énoncé-titre, mais aussi aux relations intertextuelles et interdiscursives qui le lient aux autres unités textuelles du journal et aux énoncés journalistiques circulant au fil des événements. Dans un premier temps, l’auteur de cet article étudie les différents procédés déclencheurs de jeux de mots et de défigements dans les titres des « unes » de Libération, ainsi que les effets de sens qui en découlent. Dans un deuxième temps, il s’agit de traiter cette vocation du titre de « une » aux renvois allusifs dans le contexte social et culturel du quotidien Libération, de sa naissance à nos jours (1973-2004), et d’en dégager les évolutions majeures et les enjeux pour la communication de l’information. |

| Summary, etc. | Play on words and free expressions on the Front Page of the French daily Libération (1973-2004) At the heart of journalistic discourse, newspaper headlines are where playing on words most depends on a stock of idiomatic expressions and set syntactic structures. This is due to the scriptural constraints and communicative functions inherent to the headline itself but also to the intertextual and interdiscursive relations connecting it to the other texts in the paper and to the reports that circulate according to the event considered. We first study the various procedures that unleash puns and free otherwise set expressions in the main titles of the daily Libération, and the meanings such procedures produce. We then discuss that vocation of the paper’s headlines since its foundation (1973-2004), i.e. to allude to the social and cultural context on its front page, and we attempt to discern the major changes that have taken place and how they affect the way news are reported. |
