520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc.
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Understanding as the grasping of several sorts of revision in order to explain conversational dynamics, it is useful to regard them as sequences of expectations and revisions of those expectations. Such dynamics combine “protensions” and the retrospective modification of positions within a network of meanings. expectations and revisions operate on what is taken as normal with respect to the targeted domain, but they also can apply to the interlocutors’ positions and attitudes. excuses as well as promises can be analyzed using this framework, and problems of conversation analysis be solved (such as the conflict between explicit and implicit, the peculiar role of the beginnings and the ends of conversations, or the offended party minimizing the offense in excuse scenarios), and the effects of the succession of different dynamics can also be explained.
